Jessica Meir and Christina Koch, who are both American astronauts completed the first all women space walk in order to replace a power controller at the International Space Center. Both women hoped to inspire future female astronauts to pursue careers as astronauts.
Following the event, NASA spoke out about their plans to eventually place a male astronaut and a female astronaut on the moon. A huge feat, when you keep in mind that NASA hasn’t sent humans to the moon since the first moon landing back in 1969.

In March a gunman entered a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand and shot 51 individuals dead. After the racially motivated attack New Zealand’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern lent her support to New Zealand’s muslim community and was pictured wearing a headscarf, hugging mourning family members of the deceased. Jacinda also was out spoken about her desire for New Zealand to unite as one community.
As a nation, New Zealand impressed the world by standing behind the muslim members of their community and raising funds to take care of the victims’ families. Following the shooting many New Zealanders also visited their local mosques in order to pay their respects to the deceased.
The US women’s national soccer team won their fourth World Cup:
The US women’s national soccer team became the first women’s team to win four World Cup titles. Furthermore the 2019 World Cup broke records as 82.18 million individuals tuned in to watch the World Cup final live. An increase from the previous final of 56%. Which shows that women’s sports are becoming more popular.
